Coatals

Winged or Feathered Serpents are a combination of bird and snake, with feathers on the head, tail, and sometimes body as well. These feathered (plumed) serpents are highly magical creatures of a most lawful nature. Other far more ancient legends say that they are the servants of the mysterious and exceedingly powerful magical race known as the Snake People, of which little is now known.

The Lesser Winged Serpents are the smallest and least powerful of their kind and are the most snake-like in appearance, despite their feathery plumage. Their venom consists of 3 doses of the particularly virulent Aquae Aeternum (Waters of Eternity).

When the venom is exhausted, the large fangs can still do damage like a dagger at the indicated values for armor penetration.

The Greater Winged Serpents are larger, more fearsomely armed versions of the Lesser Winged Serpents. Their snouts end in 24-inch rapier-like beaks that are used like thrusting swords to inject up to 3 doses of Aquae Aeternum (Waters of Eternity) venom. When the venom is exhausted, the sword-like beak can still does damage.

The “Unseen Servants of the Snake Mother” are the largest and most terrible of all the Winged Serpents. Their snouts end in 36-inch rapier-like beak used to inject up to 3 doses of Aquae Aeternum (Waters of Eternity) venom. The Unseen Servants may also inject up to 3 doses of a powerful sleeping potion comparable to the drug Laudanum, except that the “Damage” is -7 Fatigue points per minute! Most significant of all is that these creatures are completely invisible except to one with True Sight or the power to dispel invisibility (resisted at 49 PSF). Like the Great Winged Serpents, their beaks will do damage like a gladius at the indicated values when their venom is exhausted.
