Hippogriff

The Hippogriff, or Hippogriffin, is a winged horse, a crossbreed between a Gryphon and a mare, unthinkable as that might sound. Nevertheless, these fine steeds exhibit many of the best features of both animals. The Hippogriff resembles a Gryphon in its foreparts, with eagle’s head and beak, feathered ears, feathered breast, claws, and wings. However it differs from the Gryphon in that it has the body of a great warhorse.

The coloration is shared as well, the foreparts being those of the eagle, and the hindparts those of a horse, white and black being the most common.
