Winged Lions
Winged Lions are very powerful, magical creatures with the head and face of an ordinary lion or lioness. The body also has a lion configuration, but while some have the tawny hides characteristic of ordinary lions, others may be covered with what seem to be metallic scales, while still others are feathered and have the colorations associated with Gryphons.
All are intelligent beasts with near-human comprehension and cunning. Indeed, while incapable of speech, it is suspected that Winged Lions understand a number of the tongues of intelligent races to some degree.
Their courage is legendary, and their ferocity in battle is awesome to behold. This is particularly impressive when confronted by Undead or by creatures in league with the Unseelie Court. In such instances, they fight with Berserker Rage, with all the advantages available to one caught up by the "Fury," and nothing can restrain them until they either see all of their foes dead or are themselves slain!
